Third class treated us to some fantastic speeches as part of their campaign for the Student Council. We were extremely proud of how they stood up in front of the school and presented their ideas for improving our wonderful school. Well done boys and girls. The future is bright for our country if the lead up to this election is anything to go by! Congratulations to Fionn and Lily who were the successful candidates. They now join James, Ava, Tadhg, Emma-Rose, Lily and Elliot on the Council. They have loads of ideas for the year ahead and we excited to see what they come up with.
After a week of excellent engagement with the democratic process, the day finally arrived! After a week of canvassing, promotion, questioning and interrogation (at times), the boys and girls from 3rd to 6th finally reached delivery day. They had to present their pitch for why they should feature on the Student Council. Each student who wished to participated had the opportunity to share why they would be best for the job. They did an AMAZING job doing this and you can be guaranteed that our country is in safe hands with these fine boys and girls! After this, each student from 3rd to 6th had to go to the 'Polling Station' to democratically cast their vote. It was such a fantastic experience as we had two Presiding Officers and a Returning Officer to oversee proceedings. Each student was given a ballot paper, where they had to secretly vote for one boy and girl in their class. When all the drama settled, results were tallied and the students were called to an assembly. Everyone was congratulated and thanked for their engagement in the process and the Council was announced! Massive congratulations to Ava, James, Tadhg, Emma-Rose, Lily, Elliot, Jason and Cassie. Best of luck to you all. Commiserations and heartfelt thanks to all the other boys and girls who put themselves forward. We are very proud of you all in our school. |
