Active School's Week will take place between the 18th and 22nd of May. Planning is already underway for what will be another exciting (now annual) event in our school calendar. We have started looking for Parent Volunteers and we have been in touch with a few clubs around the area.

We had planned our World Cup for Thursday 13th June but unfortunately the rain was torrential. Instead, we postponed it and we are thankful that we did! We had a glorious World Cup Day in our school today. Every child in our school was put onto a team and each team got to play five matches each. Ireland and Sweden got to the final, with Sweden taking the victory on penalties. Once the final was finished, we then had team games to finish off another great day in our school. Well done boys and girls! #getkillinaactive
The rain came tumbling down today so luckily our Active School Team (led by Mrs. O' Sullivan and Ms. Dalton) had alternative arrangements made (it is Ireland after all!!). Each classroom was set up as a different station and the classes rotated around the school. The stations were:
As part of Active Week, the boys, girls and staff took on the Daily Mile challenge. We measured a lap of our playing field and then did lots of laps. It was great fun and the children really enjoyed doing it. Ms. Dalton then brought her class out for volleyball afterwards. A great game for getting active. Well done everyone!
Active week will take place in our school from Monday 10th till Thursday 13th June (weather permitting). The children will be engaging in a variety of activities each day. All will be revealed as the week unfolds!!! All children and teachers have to wear tracksuit and runners to school each day.
Sports Day will take place on Tuesday 11th June. The children have to wear their sports day (team- coloured) t-shirts on that day. We will have Jersey day on Thursday 13th June. The children are allowed to wear a jersey to school. We are replacing written homework with Active Homework next week and each child will be given an Active Homework record sheet to complete and return to school on Thursday 13th. Enjoy and have fun!! We are really looking forward to our Active Week and we hope it will be an enjoyable experience for all involved. |
