What is Wellbeing Wednesday?

Picture
Here in St. Oliver Plunkett National School (Killina) we put the children at the heart of every decision that we make. We are continuing with our initiative called ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ as we want to encourage our students and their families to take time to look after themselves, especially during this difficult time. We fully understand the impact that Covid-19 has had on everyone and we want to do our bit to further support you all. We miss the smiling faces coming in the door every morning and we miss the positive buzz that we are accustomed to in our school. We hope that our boys and girls (and their families) are still having fun at home and that they are keeping their positive spirits up. We know that motivation can be low some days and for that reason we feel that a Wednesday Pick-Me-Up would be much appreciated by everyone in our school. We have designed and shared (on this website) an extensive range of activities that the children can do on Wellbeing Wednesday and these will also be shared every Wednesday in Google Classroom, in addition to other suggestions that your child's teacher may have. Teachers will not set formal written tasks for the boys and girls on Wellbeing Wednesday as we want to focus on other areas of the school curriculum and on other elements of your child's development on this day.

We do ask that you share some pictures with us of some of the things that you got up to on ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ so that we can share them with each other, and see what we have all been doing! You can email the pictures/videos to your class teacher and we will make a presentation of all the different images that we receive. We have included lots of super ideas that you can do on ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ and we would also love if you could share some ideas with us too. We love when you share something new and exciting with us. We hope that you have great fun on Wellbeing Wednesday and as always, we welcome feedback and suggestions.

Kindest regards,
Dominic Tyrrell
