Active Flag Committee

Members of the Active Flag committee lead and co-ordinate all physical activities in our school. We also have playground leaders to help the committee during our Active Breaks. The Committee work hard and make sure that all the children get the opportunity to be as active as possible. The Active Committee is made up of teachers and pupils and they will be involved in organising our Active Week later in the year.

Our Active School Flag slogan

The boys and girls in our school worked collaboratively to come up with this excellent 'Active School' slogan. We have been having great fun chanting this every morning in our classrooms.

Our Active Schools Survey

Our Active Team conducted a survey of the boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class. One of the questions focused on how many children are involved with a club. This graph shows how great it is that so many of our boys and girls are part of a team. Other interesting statistics that came out of their survey included:
  • 67% of the children were influenced to join a club by word of mouth (talking with their friends).
  • 35% of the children said they would definitely recommend their club to their friends.
  • 35% of the children attend training more than once a week and 33% attend training once a week.

Gymnastics with Morgan

We are delighted to have Morgan O' Sullivan from 'Evolve Strength and Fitness' come into our school to teach gymnastic skills to our children from junior infants to second class. We have noticed a massive improvement in our boys and girls since they started their gymnastics lessons.

Tag Rugby with Gráinne (Edenderry RFC)

We are very lucky to have Gráinne, our coach from Edenderry RFC. Gráinne teaches tag rugby to classes from 1st to 6th class at various stages throughout the year. Our boys and girls also get the chance to visit Edenderry RFC throughout the year to participate in fun-blitzes against other schools in the area.
