St. Oliver Plunkett Student Council
At St. Oliver Plunkett N.S., we believe that every child has a voice and a valuable contribution to make to our school community. Our Student Council plays an important role in promoting democratic values and encouraging active pupil involvement in school life.
The Student Council is a representative group made up of one elected pupil from each class, who work together to share ideas, raise concerns, and help make our school an even better place. Through their participation, children develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, while gaining a sense of responsibility and pride in their school.
The Student Council meets monthly. Meetings are pupil-led and supported by Mrs. Usher, where students discuss upcoming events, share feedback from classmates, and plan projects to benefit the whole school.
The purpose of the council is to empower children to become caring, thoughtful leaders, and to give them real opportunities to take part in decision-making. Some of the Council’s recent initiatives include organising fundraising events, making suggestions to improve the playground, supporting school-wide campaigns, and promoting kindness and inclusion.
