Brief History of St. Oliver Plunkett N.S.

St. Oliver Plunkett N.S. school first opened its doors in 1955. The original building consisted of two classrooms, each warmed by its own fireplace, with a fire lit daily. In the 1990s, a third classroom was added, responding to the needs of a growing school community. In 2006, a significant extension saw the addition of two large classrooms, modern toilet facilities, a storage room, and office space.

Our most recent building project was completed in 2017 and included a bright, spacious classroom and a new Principal’s office. Today, Killina N.S. boasts four large, welcoming classrooms and a well-resourced learning support room, all equipped with modern teaching technologies.

Our outdoor facilities include a large tarmac play area, a football field, and a flourishing school garden. Pupils enjoy a wide variety of sports, including Gaelic football, swimming, gymnastics, and tag rugby, among others.

Killina N.S. is proud of its strong sense of community, where parents, pupils, and staff work together to create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment. While we celebrate our proud history, it is the children of today, and of the future, who will continue to shape the story of our school.
